At-Home Dental impression Kit Instructions

Complete this impression kit at home and return it to us. Your grillz will be made based on the impressions you provide, so accuracy is essential.

This kit includes enough materials for two attempts.

What’s Included

  • 2 × Base & Catalyst Putty sets

  • 2 × Light body syringes

  • 2 × Mixing tips

  • 2 × Mouth trays

  • 1 × Order form (please complete all details)

  • 1 × Clear impression bag

​

If you ordered both upper and lower grillz, you will receive double materials (4 trays, 4 putties, etc.).

Before You Start

  • Read all instructions fully before beginning

  • Test the tray size in your mouth

    • Your teeth should sit comfortably inside the channel without touching the sides

    • If not, email us for the correct size

  • Brush your teeth thoroughly

  • Remove any lip or mouth piercings to prevent them getting caught

  • Wash and dry your hands

  • You have enough material for two attempts. Complete both and send both back

Taking Your Impression

STEP 1: Mix & Place Putty

  • Mix one white and one yellow putty together until fully blended (it should be one uniform colour with no streaks)

    • This should take no more than 30 seconds

  • Roll into a ball, then a sausage shape

  • Press the putty firmly into the tray, ensuring there is plenty at the front edge

STEP 2: Take the Impression

  • Using a mirror, align the center of the tray with your front teeth

  • Push firmly in one straight motion:

    • Up for upper teeth

    • Down for lower teeth

  • Do not bite down (this causes distortion)

  • Pull your lip over the tray to check teeth are fully covered

​

Once mixed, the putty is activated and starts to harden so be sure to mix and fit the tray within 1 minute 30 seconds

​

  • Hold still - do not talk, bite, or move the tray further

  • It’s helpful to have tissues in case you dribble! 

​

Set a timer: 2 minutes 30 seconds

​

STEP 3: Remove the Tray

  • Check the putty is set by gently pressing it with your finger

  • Remove the tray from your mouth. If you need extra leverage, push your fingers into your cheeks to grip the tray edge and gently ease it out

  • Do not remove the putty from the tray

​

STEP 4: Check Your Impression

Your impression should show:

  • A clear gumline

  • Full tooth detail

  • No dragging or distortion 

​

STEP 5: Apply Light Body

  • Twist and pull off the brown cap from the syringe and replace it with a mixing tip

  • Fill the impression evenly using the full syringe

  • The light body starts to set VERY fast so immediately but carefully place the tray back into your mouth in the same position

​

Set a timer: 1 minute 45 seconds

​

  • Remove the tray the same way as before

    • The tray will be harder to remove this time so may require gentle rocking from side to side until it releases.

STEP 6: Repeat

Complete:

  • 2 impressions per set of teeth

    • Upper grillz only → 2 impressions

    • Lower grillz only → 2 impressions

    • Both → 4 impressions total

Upper and lower trays are different - use the correct one as labelled​

Returning Your Impressions

Fully complete the order form and indicate your selected teeth. Put impressions in the clear bag and place back into the box with any empty syringes and bags. Package and ship to our studio:

Important Information

Your grillz are made directly from your mould.

  • If impressions are inaccurate, the fit will be affected

  • If both attempts are unusable, you will need to purchase a new kit

  • Alternatively, you may be advised to switch to teeth that are clearly captured 

​

Production Timeline

Once we receive your impressions and confirm your design, orders are typically completed within 2-3 weeks
